Taridium is committed to complying with valid legal process from law enforcement and government agencies while protecting the privacy of our customers. This page explains how we handle requests for customer information and how to submit one.
Who this page is for
This page is for law enforcement and government agencies seeking customer records in connection with an official investigation. If you are a Taridium customer looking for your own account information or call records, please contact our support team directly rather than submitting a legal request.
Types of legal process we accept
The type of legal process required depends on the information requested:
- Basic subscriber information (name, address, account status) — a subpoena, production order, or equivalent formal legal request;
- Call detail records (numbers dialed/received, timestamps, duration) — a court order or production order issued under applicable Canadian or U.S. law;
- Content of communications, where retained — a search warrant or the jurisdictional equivalent, issued by a court of competent authority.
We review every request for legal sufficiency and reserve the right to object to requests that are overly broad, improperly issued, or not legally valid.
Emergency disclosure requests
In situations involving an imminent risk of death or serious physical injury, law enforcement may submit an emergency disclosure request outside of the normal legal process. Emergency requests should clearly describe the nature of the emergency and be submitted through the contact information below; we evaluate each emergency request in good faith and may require follow-up formal legal process.
How to submit a request
Requests should be submitted on official agency letterhead and include:
- The requesting agency, investigator/officer name, badge or credential number, and a callback number or agency email for verification;
- The specific legal authority relied upon (e.g., subpoena, production order, search warrant) and a copy of the underlying legal document;
- A clear description of the information sought, including relevant phone numbers, account identifiers, and date range;
- A case or file reference number, where applicable.
Submit requests by mail or email using the contact details below. Incomplete requests may result in processing delays.
Preservation requests
Law enforcement may request that we preserve existing records pending receipt of formal legal process, consistent with applicable law. Preservation requests do not themselves authorize disclosure of the preserved records.
Notice to subscribers
Except where prohibited by law (such as a court-ordered non-disclosure requirement or an active gag order), it is Taridium’s policy to notify affected customers of a request for their information prior to disclosure.
Costs
Taridium may seek reimbursement of reasonable costs associated with responding to legal process, consistent with applicable law.
International requests
Requests from agencies outside of Canada and the United States should generally be submitted through a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) request or letters rogatory, processed through the appropriate central authority.
